LACK OF LIBIDO WHAT TO DO.

Libido is another word for sex drive.

Many people live in the rut of low libido and just accept it.

These are some things you can start working on today.

1/ Get fit: by taking regular physical exercise. Exercise is one way to increase production

of human growth hormone which can enhance sex drive.

2/ Lose weight: Obesity or excess fat tissue in men can result in an increase in female

sex hormones therefore reducing libido.

3/ Check Zinc status: Men lose zinc when ejaculating, so if dietary intake is low or absorption

is poor zinc deficiency may develop. Other nutritional deficiencies that are also important especially

the  B vitamins

4/ Review any Medications: heart medication, antidepressants, antihypertensives

antipsychotics, and anti ulcer medicines may all be to blame

5/ Reduce alcohol: Excess alcohol causes fatty liver which will cause a reduction in

hormones necessary to maintain a normal sex drive.

6/ Reduce stressMaybe it’s time to have a break and take a couple of weeks off. If this is not possible get away for a weekend, do a bush walk and eat organic.

7/Useful Supplements:

For men the following may be useful:

  • Tribulus terrestrius extract  100 - 200 mg/d
  • Maca root extract 400 - 800 mg/d
  • Rhodiola rosea extract 150 - 300 mg/d
  • Panax Ginseng 100 - 200 mg/d
  • Diindolymethane (DIM) 100 - 200 mg/d

For women the following may be useful:

  • Ginkgo biloba extract  50 - 240 mg/d
  • Rhodiola rosea extract 150 - 300 mg/d
  • Maca root extract 400 - 800 mg/d
  • Siberian Ginseng extract 50 - 240 mg/d
  • Diindolymethane (DIM) 100 - 200 mg/d

If you have tried the above and nothing seems to be helping it’s probably time for a medical checkup. Things that can be tested include hormones such as testosterone and thyroid, blood sugar and liver function tests. Hormones can also be tested through a saliva sample which is sent to a laboratory for analysis. From the results a balanced bioidentical hormone lozenge or cream can be made up through a compounding chemistThis avoids the need for hormone injections.
